I live in Arkansas....born and bred in the Mormon Church. My church is a lay church and too far out of the mainstream to be relevant, I think, to your questions. We have no paid ministry (or other positions) so there's no preaching as such. As a group, we focus on being for things rather than against them. One time, about ten years ago, I asked a group of my church friends at lunch just exactly what were the scriptures that supposedly condemn homosexuality and nobody could name any, lol. I don't like hateful screeds coming out of any church.....neither Pastor Wrights nor a fundamentalist, armageddon-focused evangelical group in the South. you ever had actual 'hate' speech said to you? Yes, as a Mormon I sure have....although not in the last 20 or so years.
