There's nothing that will prevent a recession. Possibly a long one.

Much of what Bush did is postpone the inevitable. All with the blessing of Greenspan and Bernanke. Whoever inherits the current mess will need to demonstrate real leadership skills and avoid trying to prop up the economy. Maybe that's Obama. Or McCain. I'm pretty sure it won't be Hillary.
