Complacency abounds. Last week, I deposited $1,000 (in cash) in my Capital One checking account. Since I pay almost all my bills online, I noticed a day later that the deposit was not credited to my account. When I confronted 2 branch managers at 2 different locations (in NYC) about this with my receipt, they both told me that "this happened to a lot of their customers over a 2 day period. It was just a system wide failure of COF (Capital One Financial). It happened to my account too. What do you expect from a company that just recently took over another bank? Do you know how many people this happened to who don't even know about this yet because they did not get their statements." When I asked, when the situation would be resolved, both branch managers said, "who knows, but Capital One says sometime next week, the money is sitting all in one place, it just has to get transferred over to the right parties."

Glad I always keep my receipts. Just imagine all the bounced checks the average Joe will get who made a deposit on the 18-19th of March.

I opened another checking account with HSBC. COF is finished as soon as (or if) my money is credited to my account.
