I saw General McPeak make the charge at a campaign rally. Did you see it on TV?

I was struck by the fact that he was reading his commentary. He kept looking down at the piece of paper. It made me think someone else might have written it.

I was also struck by the fact that Obama was looking at his feet the whole time. His posture and demeanor here made me think he didn't like being associated with these charges, maybe a little ashamed.

The worst though was hearing the crowds roar with applause and yelling when McPeak finished slandering Bill Clinton. Obama's followers are so primed to see the worst in everything either of the Clintons say or do.

The whole thing made me profoundly sad.

OTOH, I was pleased today to find that this mischaracterization doesn't seem to be getting any traction with the press. I hope Obama notices this and his campaign doesn't overplay its ability to get the press to stone the Clintons.
