Bill's remark is like Michelle's gaffe with "really proud". All Bill had to say was, "No matter who wins the nomination fight, we will have a candidate who loves their country every bit as much as John McCain." He would have drawn a big cheer, helped heal the rift and presented a positive image for the party. What is it with these professional pols that they are so wrapped up in their own little universe, they can't stop and think for an instant about how their words will come across? OK, I used to do it for a living but I expect the pros to have a genetically-imprinted instinct for this kind of thing.
