Clinton's gaffe in SC, which was nothing more than a statement of truth,

Which he made very deliberately to dismiss the importance of the size of Obama's win there. It's three steps below damning with faint praise; it is patronizing and condescending and dismissive.

If someone said Hillary won certain primaries with a large female vote, just because she is a woman, that may be factually correct.

But it would be a dismissive political insult. Which is how everybody outside Hillary's camp followers perceived it. That gaffe probably did a lot to keep Obama in the race after Super Tuesday, instead of being knocked out as expected.
