McPeak jumped way too quickly and loudly on an ambiguous statement. It's sad to see both camps now primed and juiced to pounce on anything that might even be perceived as a slight. It's the overreaction to Kerry's passivity in 2004. Every word on the Web and on TV is analyzed and reacted to in hyperspeed now. We know how well judgment often works in that compressed atmosphere.
