The government gets more from every industry than it gives. That's the nature of taxes.

Its not the nature of an industry that is heavily dependent on subsidies.

Also even if you (perhaps reasonably) ignore the general corporate tax that is paid by profitable companies in all industries, there is still the specific taxes on refined oil products. Drop the corporate income tax from consideration and the oil industry still feeds more money to government than government feeds to the oil industry.

But the oil industry is "special". They get extra.

Overall compared to other industries they get a special burden not a benefit.
