Intel's talking about their new merced chip here during call; very encouraging for the computer sector in general, although coming in late 98, early 99 it will increase computing power nearly 4X with .18mu (less "travel distance" or resistance since current pentium chips width .35mu and higher). this is good news for SVGI since their Microscan III will be etching the new chips along with Nikon's and Canon's lasers (Cymer supplys all three with 90% market share for DUV lithography - its Cymer's krypton/flouride laser that will etch the chips. watch CYMI drop tomorrow though based on radically stupid people selling because flash memory is moving slower than Intel had hoped - no surprise relative to flash memory's current cost). the merced chip puts Intel significantly ahead of their competition. if Intel moves up tomorrow after intial selling, it will move up on merced news very likely (they will decimate competition with this new chip).

no one is talking about shipping the most chips in history. they're looking at $.02 in earnings miss. too much big money taking advantage of too many little traders?
