Elroy, I'm just agreeing with your original point. The "analysis" states that Obama's popular vote lead is primarily due to Illinois. The implication is that if you don't count that state, Obama would be in a popular vote tie with Hillary. OK, if we don't count Illinois, why should we count New York? That "analysis" is bunk.
