Actually, Michael is right to a certain extent. I have a friend at work who is a lady in her 50's. We both voted Republican all our lives and both decided against Republicans in this election due to Iraq, fiscal irresponsibility, and energy independence. We both had a lot in common. We both looked at Hillary first and were thinking to vote for her in the General Election. However, when the mud started to fly from Hillary, I got turned off and my support for Obama solidified. My friend's support for Hillary solidified at the same time, because she thought Hillary was being treated unfairly by the press.

That is where our relationship took a nosedive. I now make a deliberate attempt to avoid political conversations with her, because I find her to be completely unreasonable in her support of Hillary and I'm sure she finds me to be unreasonable in my support of Obama. In fact, I find Hillary so disgusting right now, that I can't help but feel that my friend's morals and values are suspect, since she supports Hillary despite all the evidence of her immorality, lying, backstabbing, and manipulation of the public.

We are a microcosm of what is going on out there. Friends are getting split apart over this. Voters are now refusing to vote for the other Dem candidate. That is a truly awful scenario, because as Michael point out, it will mean President McCain in November.

Can it be fixed? I don't think so. It's already too late. The damage is already done and it will continue to get worse. The only thing the Dem leadership can do now is to just put the tourniquet on to staunch the bleeding, but the artery has already been severed. The only question now is will the eventual Dem nominee not bleed to death before he/she has a chance to fight and maybe beat McCain.
