Anyone watching John Adams on HBO? I've seen two episodes. I thought the first one aimed rather low -- a lot of very standard Hollywood components. For instance, the music was unoriginal in every way, lots of overblown reaction shots, too many caricatures -- as if the whole thing were aimed at 10-year-olds. But the second episode was a little better, a little more sophisticated. Most likely the first episode aimed at hooking a wider audience before turning "serious." Anyway, I'm going to keep watching. Now The Tudors, on the other hand -- wow! Gorgeous. The costuming, sets, lighting -- the best I have seen on TV. Better than Rome, even. I'm looking forward to the second season.
