We don't need to risk the U2 pilots anymore - the Global Hawk can do the job.

True - that will eventually happen.

We don't NEED bases in Iraq.

True - we don't "need" them - but you will have a real hard time arguing they would not provide a huge strategic and operational advantage in the region.

Global Hawk like the U2 flies along the border, the longer the border the more of a country you can look at. They can fly day or night in almost any weather.

As for spying on Iran, why do we NEED to? Is Iran a threat to US?
