Not true... there are many, many industries that endure excise taxes.


Yes other industries get hit with special taxes as well, but many do not. If other specific industries also get hit with such targeted taxes than they also are made to cover a larger part of the government's burden.

Also few, perhaps none, of these other industries generate as much revenue as the taxes on oil products.

Responding to your article - Well I'd like to see almost all of the energy bill tossed out, including the money going to the oil industry.

But the total is $14.5bil, 58% of that is going to numerous traditional energy sources. So what's going to just oil? $2bil? $5bil?

Compare that to tens of billions from the taxes on refined oil products.
