EMCORE Announces Date of 2008 Shareholders' Meeting, Filing of 10-K/A Containing Compensation Information
1/28/2008

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Jan 28, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ --
EMCORE Corporation ("EMCORE") (Nasdaq: EMKR), a leading provider of compound semiconductor-based components and subsystems for the broadband, fiber optic, satellite, and terrestrial solar power markets, announced that it had filed a Form 10-K/A, amending its Form 10-K previously filed with respect to its fiscal year ending September 30, 2007, in order to provide the new information required by Part III of Form 10-K, including executive compensation information, discussion and analysis.

"This information would ordinarily have been incorporated by reference from the proxy statement for our upcoming annual shareholders' meeting, which we have generally held in February," explained Reuben Richards, EMCORE's Chief Executive Officer. "Because our 2007 annual shareholders meeting was not held until December 3, 2007, our Board of Directors has determined to hold our 2008 meeting on March 31, 2008. As a result, the proxy statement for our 2008 meeting will be filed too late to incorporate this information by reference, and so we are including this information in a Form 10-K/A."
