Some will go to the republican party. Some will vote one of the third parties as a protest vote and many will just stay home and not vote dropping out of politcs.

I don't get that. Not at all. Maybe it's because I've never even considered affiliating with a political party. (Other than wanting to sign up as a socialist when I was 21, that is. That was mostly because I thought it was cool.)

It seems to me that there's no point in being a Democrat if you aren't chomping at the bit for more and bigger social welfare programs. Maybe there are a few small-government unionists out there, but I doubt it. And maybe a few otherwise-thinking pacifists. But the big draw is the social programs. I could be all wet about that, but that's what it looks like from my perspective.

So, if you've been panting for the last eight years to get going on health care or some other program, how could you not vote for whomever the Dems run?

Where am I wrong?
