Odeon,

Right on! DELL is not in the naive home PC market. A lot of people want them to play CPQ's retail game. It remains to be seen what the effect of this will be on CPQ's profits and margins. Almost anyone can build a low cost PC. I am sure CPQ's revenues will be up but the low cost PC's cannibalized their $1,000 to $1,500 PC products.

We should see some strong numbers from DELL in November due to the sales of their Tilamook laptops, PII workstations, and servers. Also, they have been doing very well in the desktop area with the government, business and educational markets. It remains to be seen what is happening with their recent entry into the direct consumer market.

Incidently, DELL already has a 8-processor NT server for their corporate clients.
