Lance Armstrong came within a whisker of "losing it all" when he came down with testicular cancer. He was basically operating as an independent businessman - collecting endorsements, etc. He had some sort of independent insurance and he switched from one provider to another. They tried to hose him over some renewable date or some such. I think the President (well maybe of cycling) called them up and told them to cut the c&*p - they were dealing with the future of cycling. Lance's endorsements went away when he got sick. A cruel world out there. He showed them. When he got better, whomever yanked their endorsement wanted to renew it. Lance turned them down in a less than gracious fashion.
