Ok they aren't idiots
Many have legitimate complaints and those aren't the ones I blast,. There are many neophite traders that complain here about things they have no idea about, how many complaints have been posted by new traders that seem to think an order in the spread has to be filled? many many have. Or other misconceptions about trades service etc. how many of these traders have bothered to look up what the law says is best effort. Look it up you won't believe it. It's on the internet.
I would love to find the perfect broker, one who unerringly made every trade I ordered and did it in less than a second and got me a price improvement to boot. One that got my confirms to me in seconds, one that returned my cash from a sale real time, posting it to my portfolio for immediate turnaround, one that had all controls needed to execute a trade on one page, one that gave me free real time quotes, one that does not except payment for order flow as it considers that a conflict of interest. I also trade with Ameritrade as well as Datek. Datek manages to do many things on that list pretty much every time, Ameritrade does none. Does that make Datek better than Ameritrade, no, Ameritrade has better research facilities, Ameritrade has much wider invertment oportunities, Ameritrade has free IRA's.
In short every brokerage on the internet probably has something to say for it and every brokerage has problems that you have to work around. The point I am trying to make is that jumping down Jon or Peters throat was accomplishing nothing, it just drove them to the point they didn't want to read the thread anymore. Problems can't be fixed if the people that can fix them don't read about them and they won't read if every time they start there are seventeen people tearing at their throats.
Start from a new viewpoint look at the good side for a change, let Datek know what they are doing right, when you do offer suggestions for things you think would improve service. That way they will get read and they can answer back with expecting to get there ears shot off.
Datek must be doing something right for you. You had a major problem, you were leaving, and were going to flame them throughout eternity from you posts a while back, but your still here and you aren't up in arms anymore, so someone must have done something right.
As for having Jon Normile as my account rep I would be willing to bet that Jon Tara does too.
