so does DWI, but never the less, when a drunk kills a family of four on the road, should we worry that the law against drinking while driving is about to tear that drunk's ass up with a criminal record?

I say no, hit the drunk with murder.
Just because this guys life was miserable does not make a case for making harmful drugs legal.

As I said before, MJ for medical reasons seems reasonable to me under controls. Beyond that, I have NO desire to see any drugs such as heroin, coke, meth in any form, etc, legalized.
