The US being perceived as 'picking sides' in this internal Iraqi political fight, preparatory to the fall's elections in Basra, could be the last straw for our reputation in-country Well put....this is one reason why this occupation is different than those of the past. The Country as it stands can't unite behind a political system. No trust, no willingness to compromise, to share power. And we are stuck right in the middle, sure to make some or all angry by whatever steps we take. Which is why the next President, mo matter who, will change the nature of our commitment there.
