"Thats not necessarily true at all. "

With politicians? You've got to be joking.

No, haven't you ever heard "the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak"? Or St Augustine's (I think) quote, Grant me celibacy, Lord, but not yet?"

Since you think people's sexual activities are driven by their beliefs about morality rather than instinctual drives, then ...

gays must be gay not because they are drawn to others of the same sex but because they think gay sex is more moral than straight ..... married men who cheat aren't simply unable to control themselves but think cheating is more moral than being faithful .... etc.

"I was referring to liberals who have no moral standards and pride themselves on not being hypocrites."

The only problem is that there are only a few people with no moral standards at all. That is what is called a sociopath.

I have known several folks on SI who claim to reject morality and "good" and "evil". None of those were conservatives.

"I believe he was underage and Studds wasn't prosecuted because of problems prosecuting Studds when the witness wouldn't testify against him. "

But, he wasn't underage. That has been posted here many, many times. At that time, the age of consent where the actions were committed was 16 or 17.

He wasn't prosecuted because what he did wasn't illegal.

Sheesh. Ah well, Studds was a heroic victim of persecution then.

"Of course he resigned because news of his affairs was going to come out."

What are you talking about? His first affair that we know of was in 1977. The second that we know of was in 2000. He resigned in 1998. Hard to see how news of his affairs were going to leak out in 1998 when one had been known about for years and the other hadn't even started.,/i>

He resigned during the Clinton scandal period when the Hustler magazine guy was publicizing dirt on Republicans.
