It's hard to imagine the days back when a local bank made it's mortgages to local people. Most industries have become global with huge, sprawling, corporate players and the financials are no exception. The wheel has been re-invented too many times already! It would appear that some of these market surges are similar to the old pyramid scams but on a grander, worldwide scale. The last guy to hold the equity is left with an emptier bag. Through all this I have learned that money can be made in these "runs" but it's imperative not to hold the land or equity too long. Buy and hold is a hard game to win.
