It was prohibited in Iraq during the Saddam regime, and is currently prohibited in North Korea, and would be in Iran today if they were able to do anything about it. And you must remember that is hasn't been so long since Tiananmen Square.

Obviously, there is nothing unusual about some nation's leaders taking decisive action against its critics.

Luckily, we live in a country where freedom of speech is a right and even encouraged. While the previous president would attempt to stifle outspoken criticism, there was nothing he could really do about it (other than take advantage of a largely liberal media). The current president often EMBRACES dissent, frequently pointing out that it is the essence of our nation's freedom.
