A couple of late DJ stories: INTC affirms Merced on track for production in 1999. INTC, Merced; Merced successor already being designed.
<<As for myself, I'm a little worried that Intel only increased revenue by 1 billion year over year>>
Amid the product transitions, extreme price cuts, volitile competition (at times)--I think they have faired well.
IMO, this Q was a "recouperating" Quarter. Look at INTCs sales over the last 9-10 Quarters:
9-95 $4171 MM 12-95 $4580 MM 3-96 $4644 MM 6-96 $4621 MM 9-96 $5142 MM <--- This was the Q that sent INTC off to the races 12-96 $6440 MM <--- This one helped also (remember they prewarned this one, if you can call it a "warn") 3-97 $6448 MM <--- 97 gets off with a bang, as tech spending flows over into 1997 from December 6-97 $5960 MM <--- Intel gets hit with reality, quarter toughest in years 9-97 $6155 MM <--- Typically the slowest quarter of the year, intel rips their third best quarter of ALL TIME amid price cuts, product transition. Intel has grown from doing $4.6 Billion/qtr to over $6.2 Billion/qtr in under 500 calendar days (this is growth folks).
I see bigger and brighter things ahead. I feel the 6-97 Quarter was the toughest INTC will see for the next 9-12 months. This Quarter (9-97) showed that INTC is on the road of recovery to record sales, once again. Products in the pipeline, global synergies, and a pure monopoly make Intel a global core holding. If you guys think Intel has topped out here on the revenue side, you have another thing coming. I buy on big dips over the next 7-10 days.
