I've heard Southwest has determined that if you can't have the arm rest down you need to buy both seats. I'm now firmly in favor of that being the norm.

I was just talking with someone about that. If a person can't fit in a seat without squishing the next person over, the airline ought to require them to buy two seats. Simple as that.
