All depends on the warranty and wording as to whats covered and for how much Ken. Many extended warranties are worth little more then the paper they are printed on. I speak from experience having sold them in the auto business. We had to be very selective to come up with a good extended warranty that we felt was a good value for our customers. There are a lot of shoddy ones out there.

If he isn't a Good Sams Club member he should be and I would recommend their extended warranty in the future. Under my policy under the same scenario my out of pocket would have been my 500 dollar deductible.
