I agree that a house is not really an investment, though it can be if buying cheap in an area about to boom. But it is as much an investment as gold.

I have preferred to invest in things which earn profits and pay dividends, such as QUALCOMM. The returns have been far better than sitting in a house or cuddling bars of gold. More fun and more useful too.
