Alitalia to Hold Emergency Board Meeting; Shares Suspended After Air France Quits Talks

ROME (AP) -- Trading in shares of Alitalia was suspended Thursday and the company board called an emergency meeting as the troubled Italian air carrier edged toward bankruptcy.

After repeated failures to lure a buyer, the last, Air France-KLM, walked away from the deal Wednesday, options for Alitalia are running out.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- ATA Airlines canceled all flights Thursday after filing for bankruptcy as it posted advisories at ticket counters in the handful of cities it still served and sought assistance for stranded passengers.
