Thanks for your thoughts. I have read Obama's writings and other sources from all directions and continue to do so.

When he compares himself to Lincoln I find it a little of a stretch. He is doing what candidates often do which is to draw upon figures from history to inspire people to vote for him. That's okay ----it's politics.

I do consider Obama to have had many privileges that most American young people did not have in education in the late 1960's and 1970's at Punahou. Attending Punahou, fortunately for him, was a key factor in setting the stage for his later life.

Naturally, since he was abandoned by his own father, the other major factors are his mother and grandparents. He is blessed to have had them.
