The problem with your idea on the Intel part of Wintel is that the majority of corporate profits comes from fat margins on the high end chips. Networking products are in fierce price competition, and the demand for the latest speeds on P2's is lagging. Without the telco's and cable boys increasing bandwidth in a timely fashion, the killer apps are missing on the latest technology advances.
Intel will have good rresults going forward, but not the knockouts everyone anticipated!
SUNW looks to be in the right spot for the latest trends in computing, and I don't see server demand waning anytime soon...
