You can't just "writeoff" EVERYTHING that comes from some news sources and just ACCEPT all the stuff that comes from others.

You have to parce out the reasonable stuff and shuck the rest.

The fact is....the Basra thing was pretty much a disaster. Maliki went in there to dislodge the Sadr militias, but ended up making Sadr look like he was in control of the whole thing.
It was like the cops going in to clean out a "drug house" and being held at bay for a few days...then the guys in the "drug house" saying, "O.K., why don't you cops just go away and we'll forget the whole thing happened" and the cops saying, "That sounds good to us".

It makes Maliki look like a fool and Bush look like even MORE of a fool than he already does (and that's saying something).
