Some observations about computer program trading.

The programs are set to follow trends, and appear to be most closely linked with direction, change of direction,
and speed of change in direction of the major incides - all a reflection of the futures trading in those indices.

What I'm describing is clearly mathematical derivatives, and since the programmers are known to be mathematicians -
this is clearly of no surprise.

Also, it is highly unlikely the every trading firm uses the same algorithms, though I would imagine they work on the same principles.

Since the programmers probably jump around between the firms, it would be hard for there not to be some commonality.
