((TH, why is Glenn's Bin Laden Loving, Anti-American rant perfectly acceptable for Credit Bubble material:))

LOL! You're absolutely right. I LOVE Bin Laden. If I was gay, I'd want him as my lover. And if I was female, I'd want to have 10 children by him.

However, you're incorrect when you say I am Anti-American. I believe the US - and the US Government in particular - stands for freedom, democracy, apple pie, puppy dogs, and all things good in this world.

Conversely - and this leaves me somewhat torn because I am such a Bin Laden lover - I think "most all" Muslims are creepy, retarded, religiously-backward, evil-doers who threaten all that is good in this world and that American stands for.

And my post you referenced - this one:

Message 24449625

... even though I AM a Bin Laden lover, was not a "Bin Laden"-loving post. Quite the opposite in fact. It proposed the thesis that Bin Laden - as a mythical character - in fact does not "exist" in the way our media presents him. I also presented the thesis that he is actually, in part, our very creation. That he is part of a "black op" that has been planned and supported by the elites in a number of western and non-western nations as part of a broad strategy to secure geopolitical power and oil supplies, largely for the West.

OK, to be honest, I was actually just kidding. I'm not a Bin Laden lover, because I don't even BELIEVE in "Bin Laden", any more than I believe in Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy. And, I'm not anti-US because the US is a collection of people and institutions based on ideas and practices. Like most people everywhere, most Americans I have met are very nice and decent people, like people everywhere.

Now the US Government and political elites? Well, again I'm not anti the institutions or the necessity of political elites per se, but I do believe that the US is presently governed by a bunch of liars and thieves, some of who are very, very bad people. My hypothesis is that they are actually "projecting" their own evil tendencies onto this mythical "Bin Laden" character, so that there own evil actions can be justified. Yes, I really hate these moth**-fu**ers, and the moth**-fu**er leaders of other peoples, such as Great Britain, Canada, Turkey, Israel, and Saudi Arabia, to name a few, that are complicit in this "so-called" global War on Terror.

Now in response to this comment:

((I challenge conventional wisdom and fluffed up egos. Most people can't handle it. By banning me, you'll return the thread to the old moribund group think. When everyone is thinking the same way, there isn't much thinking going on.))

Give me break. So the theory that Osama Bin Laden is a mythical creation of Western intelligence agencies and a "black op" is "conventional wisdom"? Whatever.

((By banning me, you'll return the thread to the old moribund group think.))

That's not how I see it. By banning you, we'll be banning someone who doesn't respectfully engage in conversation, and in my view exhibits precisely the "fluffed up ego" trait of which you speak. Personally, I am always open to being convinced of the fallacy of my ideas. Always.

But when I encounter someone who personally attacks people and doesn't engage in discussions on their merits - for example, by calling my post a "Bin Laden Loving, Anti-American rant" ... well, why waste my time I figure. This is not the type of person I will probably genuinely learn something from, and gain insight into new perspectives. Like I would, for instance, from Russ.

((I suggest you ban me now because I'm not going to change.))

Well, at least we can agree on something.

Regards,
Glenn
