I read Beowulf many years ago in High School for pleasure, and it was not part of an assignment. I loved it. The Medicine Tree is dead now, but in the 19th Century it was a sacred site of the Salish People. It had a bighorn sheep skull and horns embedded in it about six feet off the ground.
