Alcoa melting down into the close. Alcoa always leads te earnings parade. Do you think that anybody knows AA's earnings in advance??? Could set the tones for the whole earnings season!!!

Banks earnings are next week. I can't wait.

I hope especially that that nasty business we all learned about over the weekend - counting as profits corporate debt mark-to-market declines - will be shown the light of day. You know - the IB analyst equivalent of Ivy Zell asking Vikram Pandit why 3/4 of his reported earnings came from Lehman corporate debt being marked down.

One thing is for sure - that trick can only be pulled once. It is not a source of recurring earnings. Of curse the debt could continue dropping, but that is a short's favorite indicator.
