China WAS a socialist country. We are now twenty years on from Deng's "to get rich is glorious" proclamation.

Cutting off the US market would be in effect a suicide bombing attack by China. It would suddenly deprive the 10s or 100s of millions of China's rising middle class of the prosperity which they were accustomed to and had learned to expect.

If history teaches anything, it is that nothing is more dangerous to a government than depriving a middle class of their dearly held aspirations. They, far more than the poor, are likely to create revolutions. That is what happened in France in 1789.
