Why don't you spell it out for me. What do you think is at stake in Iraq?

Bin Laden himself has stated that Iraq is the central front for future operations. That ought to give you a clue, but for the fact you have the mind of a 14 year old (not trying to disparage 14 year olds).

We left Vietnam, another dumbass war, and now we trade with them as friends.

Vietnam is a totally different story and involved no terrorism attacks in the United States, and involved to threat to the United States mainland, as Islamic Terrorism obviously does. We could debate whether Vietnam was in fact a "dumbass war" -- I didn't support it at time, but have come to understand both the reason for the war and the reasons we lost it.

My daughter just returned from a couple of weeks of working in Saigon and, yes, it is Americanized in some respects. But it is important to remember that these people held no animosity toward us in the first place; we were there, of course, in an effort to support the South Vietnamese in their freedom effort. And they very much NEED the trade with us; so it isn't shocking that they welcome us there.

Sooner or later, the American people will force the government to abandon this war as well. As with Vietnam, it started with a few people like me who were against it before it began. Then, the war loses popular support. Finally, it collapses completely.

I'm sure you think that is a good thing, but Iraq is the battlefield in a greater war on terrorism -- winning there is essential if we are to protect ourselves in the United States. If we lose the war in Iraq, it will indisputably reignite and further motivate Islamic Terrorists to attack us in our own country. I realize you don't understand this.
