Apollo Investors to Sell Shares
By PETER LATTMAN
April 8, 2008 6:44 p.m.

Apollo Global Management LLC, the private-equity firm run by Leon Black, filed to sell about $418 million of stock.

The company plans to sell about 30 million shares for $14 each, according to a securities filing Tuesday. The shares are being sold by investors who bought stock in a private transaction in August, said New York-based Apollo said in the filing. The shares are expected to trade on the New York Stock Exchange.

Last summer, Apollo listed shares on a private exchange run by Goldman Sachs Group Inc. The market value of those shares has fallen by more than 30% since their shares began trading. Before their stock offerings, Apollo sold roughly 10% stakes in itself to California Public Employees' Retirement System, known as Calpers, and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.
