I think cultural and intellectual evolution is mankinds manifest destiny. I think it is the way the universe works i.e. organic systems evolve from inorganic systems and consciousness evolves from organic systems.

As Alfred North whithead said: "we have this tendency to divide the universe into the organic and the inorganic. I believe consciousness is a third system in the universe."

I agree and think consciousness is pervasive throughtout the universe. So I send this message to my sentient being friends in outer space: "take me to your leader", I am ready for a new planet and culture-lol.

Yes, tocqueville saw that the achilles heel of democracy was the potential of the majority to be unfair to the minority.

Regarding pubic education: most of my friends kids went to public schools and did just fine in college. Yes public schools are messy, but so is the thinking of most humans-lol. The public schools and our democracy are only as good as our people. Remember how people saw Nixon and Kennedy at the time or look at how people look at politicians today.

Those friends of mine who went to college have kids who are also more likely to go to college. Parents have a responsibility to work with the schools and their kids to educate their kids.

Of interest, in California twice as many African American girls go to college as boys. And women are exceeding men in the numbers going to universities. DeeDee Meyers may be right "why women must rule the world"-lol.

personally, I am ready to turn the governance of the world to over to women-lol.
