The prices of laptops have come down sharply, but still more expensive than most smart phones. I imagine most folks keep a laptop for about 4 years, and would want the ability to connect to the internet with the latest technology. Did I read somewhere that one of the carriers is offering free wifi access at certain locations???? That plus the ability to transparently switch to the most cost effective connection should eventually enable the carriers to off-load data intensive traffic from the 3G network and reduce data pricing.
