The Manchurian Candidate was not "stupid" at all. It was fictional, but based on a real factual and very large covert CIA operation calld MK-ULTRA which went on for 20 years focused on mind bending drugs, hynopsis and using psychotropic drugs as chemical weapons and manipulators. AT one point they bought up the entire world's supply of LSD and tested it on countless Americans including Ken Kesey in 1959 which ended up jumpstarting the psychedelic revolution in San Francisco.

You should think before you dismiss factual history. Indeed, one part of MK-ULTRA was to try and use it to bombard subjects with then hypnotize them into obeying orders. So ManChurian Candidate was not far-fetched at all. Also, there were reports of a camp for brain-washed assassins in North Carolina in the early 60's. All very hush-hush.

One thing we know. James Earl Ray, Sirhan and Oswald definitely did not act alone. It would have ben impossible. We also know J. Edgar Hoover rabidly hated all three and was one of the few people with the means to pull off not only the shootings but the mnassive coverups and quashing of investigations.

As for Oswald being a leftist, his address in New Orleans in 1963 was the same as a far rightwing ex FBI covert ops gun-running organizer named Bannister. That came out in the Garrison trial. That was a fact.
