My kids went to a small school that had to adjust different grades between K and 6 with four instructors. I don't know how they did it, but they did an excellent job. While they were there I saw individual classes for every grade or nearly so. Other teachers had to do two grades. The teachers seemed to love it, but I know they worked very hard. They deserve to be recognised for the excellent job they did.

The years between first and second grade I suggested to my children that they should set a goal for a number of books to read. My son wold not be dissuaded from the number 50. By the end of the summer he had read about 20. I was impressed with the quantity he did read.
