The dream scenario is a Obama win with 55% or so, another 5-6 Democratic senators and a bloc of Republicans like Hagel and Voinivich who might defy their whips and overcome filibusters on legislation that will help get us out of Iraq.

Unfortunately, Hagel isn't running for reelection. And for some reason, Bob Kerrey decided not to run as well (at least I'm pretty sure that he has already made that decision). So the seat will probably go to a more standard Republican.

Hagel may end up in the Cabinet if Obama is elected, however. At least, I've seen speculation to that effect. He (Hagel) has denied any done deals, though, and recently said when asked that he doesn't know what he will be doing next year--not ruling anything out.
