I think the debate should be less about tax policy in general, but more about what are the tax policies and proposals of the candidates?

I agree. A good place to start is that Obama would (at least) draw down the troops from Iraq, saving $Billions. I suspect (but I'm not sure) that he would cut some military spending, which is now roughly equivalent to the military spending of the rest of the world. He would focus more on diplomacy, as has been the case with most recent Presidents prior to Bush... and has been quite successful. But I do believe that he wants to increase the 'human' size of military, which is disturbing.
