One of the worst trading decisions I ever made was the reverse of that. I sold LEAP calls and bought shorter term calls. Not the same number of contracts but the same dollar amount or close to it. I was so confident that the stock would go up in the short run and that the growth would moderate after that. Instead the stock tanked. At least being short the longer term calls gave me some upside, but the shorter term calls went to zero.
