I doubt it, Michael. Bush has so tainted the Republicans that come 2009, we're going to have an even greater majority of Dems in Congress and a Dem President. I too think that one party owning two branches of government is a recipe for disaster. However, you can thank Bush for that. The Clinton years were good years, because we had a fiscally conservative true Republican Congress lead by Dem President. In the Bush years, we had a fiscally irresponsible President and a rubber stamp Republican Congress and it lead the country straight over the cliff. I'd love for us to get back to a balance budget. If I were President, I wouldn't do these stupid half measures. I'd tell the Congress that effective immediately, I would veto every budget that came to me with a projected deficit. End of story. We'd cut pork like you wouldn't believe and we'd raise taxes a bit on the rich to pay for an elimination of the AMT to help the middle class. And we'd tax the shit out of the oil companies and use half the proceeds to shore up the Treasury and the other half to provide incentives for alternative energy. You bet. I'd make some pretty big changes.
