That might be the place. There were several huge estates up there. I don't think the one I'm talking about was on the lake. It was beautiful. We never had to go to the big house in this case. I think they had a gatekeeper where we got permission to enter.

That was one of my finest summers. I visited many big estates up there in the Saranac Lake country. At one time there was an extensive system of railroads built so the rich people could get there in their private rail cars. These tracks were all taken up by the time I was out there, but you could still see the railbed.

Another big estate, although not nearly so huge, was owned by Marjorie Post. I saw it in detail with a German girl who was a cook there. She was the summer love of my assistant. Every year at the end of summer they had to prepare the place as if Mrs. Post would not be back for ten years. The lodge was filled with fascinating artifacts, including a lampshade made from human skin.

Some of the sources I checked said John D. Rockefeller was much richer than Bill Gates when dollar value is factored in.
