Oral, forget about global warming. Focus on national and economic security. Those are more palatable reasons to become oil independent. We have the technology to become completely oil independent. We just lack the political will. I could guarantee you oil independence in 10 years, if you'd give me the money we spent on Iraq in the last 5 to do it with. Again, it's about priorities. If we're oil independent, then we can let the Middle East and Venezuela rot, because we won't ever need them again. And our economy won't suffer massive trade deficits due to oil. It's a twofer. Or if you want to throw in the benefits to the environment, then it's a threefer.
