yes, I'm glad that we have not had another terrorist attack and Bush deserves some credit for that. However, Ann, we have to have balance. We can't spend every penny of our Treasury on security. Already, our economy is in the toilet and the dollar has lost 70% of it's value during the Bush Presidency. This security is costing us a fortune and bankrupting us.

Osama Bin Laden said that his primary aim was to bankrupt America. Well, from where I'm sitting, Bin Laden accomplished exactly what he set out to do. We have to finally admit that what we are doing is excellent at solving the symptoms of terrorism, which is why we have not experienced any attacks. However, it is more cost effective over the longer run if we address the root causes of terrorism, so that we don't have to spend $600B a year fighting it.

Bush doesn't understand this hard calculus. We need a President that sees the bigger picture. And btw, I reject your assertion that somehow the Dems are weaker on national security than the Republicans. FDR did everything in his power to get the US involved in WWII and then he saw it through. Clinton made mistakes, absolutely, but Bush has made far more mistakes than Clinton did. Remember Tora Bora.
